Green:  The 2011 Ford Explorer  is being nicknamed the "Green Monster" due to all of its recycled materials and it?s higher gas mileage.  The 2011 Explorer  is 85% recyclable. The 2011 Explorer  is made up of many recycled materials such as: parts made from steel left over from F-150 production and 40% soy polyurethane foam in the seats. The soy foam has helped Ford reduce its petroleum oil usage yearly by more than 10,500 barrels and it is up to 24 % more renewable. The use of soy foam also helps Ford reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 11 million pounds. Lastly, by recycling the steel from the F-150 production has allowed Ford to reduce its use of virgin steel by an estimated 119 tons per year, which is the same as driving a midsize car the circumference of the earth 14 times.
